Our Verdict

At first glance, the Crocs Kadee II is just a very simple foam flip flop, but it offers more than meets the eye. This lightweight option sports some sneaky outsole traction as well as a small arch support and footbed contouring. The concave heel bed helps offer support as well, and the slight stretch allows for some wiggle room size-wise. However, the Kadee runs a small, so be sure to size up if you're in between sizes. This waterproof flip is a great option for short walks, gardening, or household chores at a budget-friendly price.

Our Analysis and Test Results

This unique take on a basic flip flop offers enough traction for a quick scramble down to the river and enough comfort and support for short walks around the park.

Performance Comparison

Comfort

While the Kadee II are far from the most comfortable in our test suite, they perform surprisingly well for what is essentially a plastic flip flop. There is no break-in period needed and they are super flexible. They are thin and lightweight, making them easy to slip on and off. There is a small amount of contour on the footbed, but the shoes run a little small, so size up if there is any uncertainty.

While the Kadee is comfortable for what it is, the plastic flip design cannot measure up to the others in our test suite. It doesn't form to your feet over time, meaning that what you get out of the box is what you get for the lifetime of the shoe. The toe post is also a little hard which can be irritating on longer walks. This flip flop is best used for short walks, gardening, and other activities that don't require much distance.

Support

The Kadee II is not the most supportive flip flop in our test suite, but it gets the job done for shorter outings. The thick-yet-narrow straps are comfortable and hold the shoe bed close to the foot. The footbed is very thin and feels similar to walking barefoot, but what Crocs has done with the contouring provides a good bit of support for such a basic sandal.

While the Kadee is more supportive than your average flat foam flip flop, it just can't measure up to some of the more high-end options in our test suite.

Traction

For a simple flip flop, the Kadee has stellar outsole traction. The highly textured sole provides some grip while walking on loose terrain and the flexibility and general softness allow for optimal surface area contact. The interior footbed traction is pretty decent when the shoe is dry as well. Small bumps paired with the contouring and heel cup help ensure that the foot doesn't slip around too much.

However, if you have particularly sweaty feet or plan to wade through water, prepare to slip around on the footbed. A heel strap would help solve this problem, but the beauty of the Kadee is in its simplicity.

Versatility

The Kadee proved to be durable during our testing period; however, they don't measure up to some of the heartier sandals we tested. They are completely waterproof and take no time to dry as they do not absorb liquid. This makes them a great option for casual river or beach hangs. We found that the best application for these simple sandals is travel. They are very lightweight and compact. If you need something to throw in your bag while you clip into bike pedals or roller skate around, these definitely won't weigh you down.

While these shoes can accompany you to a lot of places they only perform well for a short time before they become uncomfortable. Unfortunately, this renders them somewhat less versatile.

Style

This basic flip comes in tons of super fun colors. Their aesthetic is casual-sporty and as long as you are also dressed casually, they look just fine with anything. They are not going to be the staple piece that pulls your whole look together, though.

Value

This budget-friendly pair is a great option for anyone who needs some flips on the fly. They don't cost much and are worth the price tag. Depending on how often and where you use them, they may not last as long as some of the more expensive options in our test suite but we didn't see any signs of wear, and we put these puppies through the wringer.

Conclusion

The Crocs Kadee II Flip is a cute, lightweight option perfect for travel. There are many fun colors to choose from so it shouldn't be hard to match your favorite casual outfit. The excellent outsole traction is a pleasant surprise, making this pair a great option for quick scrambles down loose terrain. While the support and comfort don't inspire us to walk for miles, this is a good pair of shoes for gardening, short walks, household chores, or something extra lightweight for travel.
