Our Verdict

If traction is your main concern, there is no better option than the B Mat Everyday. The 100% non-slip rubber performs well under most circumstances and requires no break-in period. Whether you are a hot yoga fan or enjoy practicing outside to salute the sun in the crisp autumn air, you won't have to worry about sliding around on your mat. This 71 by 26-inch yoga mat is only four millimeters, but it offers a good amount of support and comfort regardless of the style of yoga you are practicing. Sometimes the grippy surface is a little too grippy, but that's better than the alternative, in our opinion.

Our Analysis and Test Results

This yoga mat is 71 by 26 inches, which leaves plenty of room for most practices. It is four millimeters thick and falls in the middle of the spectrum, but it's quite comfortable. Read on to see how the B Mat Everyday measures up to our rigorous testing.

Comfort and Support

This four-millimeter mat is a few millimeters thinner than some of the other top performers in our test suit, but the difference is barely noticeable. The B Mat Everyday is very comfortable for padding your joints.

The open-cell design offers a highly textured surface, but the texture is shallow and barely noticeable. It is very comfortable on hard floor and gracefully walks the line of not too firm for sensitive elbows and knees but not so soft that it poses a challenge for poses that require significant balance. The thickness and firmness help offer a little rigidity when placed on softer ground like grass, sand, or carpet.

The mat's stickiness offers an insane amount of grip, but it can be uncomfortable if your skin is exposed and in contact with the mat during Shavasana. It can also be uncomfortable while moving through Asanas which require you to drag a foot across quickly across the mat.

Grip

The Everyday requires no break-in period. This is one of the grippiest mats, dry or wet, right out of the box.

The open-cell technology is moisture-wicking. It is not absorbent, so water and sweat tend to pool on the mat. Somehow, even when your hand is sitting in a puddle of your sweat during hot yoga, the traction is barely affected.

This 100% non-slip rubber mat is so grippy that sliding your hands and feet across it between Asanas can be quite difficult. On the plus side, it forces you to engage your core and pick up your hands and feet to ensure your flow is not interrupted.

Materials

The 100% rubber makes for some incredible grip, and this mat is quite comfortable, but there is room for improvement when it comes to durability.

While the grip is the Everyday mat's claim to fame, it also has some drawbacks besides comfort on bare skin. After extended use, the top and bottom of the mat where you place your hands and feet are peeling up a little. When the top layer peels away, the grip suffers. If you plan to use this mat in a rigorous fashion every day, i.e., jumping into plank during sun salutations, consider a more durable mat. If you plan to move slowly between your Asanas, this Everyday mat is an absolute treat and will last A LOT longer.

Ease of Use

The Everyday is 71 by 26 inches, which is on the wider side of the spectrum. Most yoga mats range from 24 to 26 inches wide. The extra two inches are noticeable and offer a larger space for your practice.

Cleaning the B Mat Everyday is cumbersome, but is not needed after every practice. Gently wipe with water and mild detergent and rinse clean. Then wipe it down, and lay it flat to dry. Keep the mat out of direct sunlight with the logo side facing up. You must also avoid harsh chemicals and abrasives as they will break down the mat's surface much faster.

The manufacturer also offers tips like rolling your mat with the logo side facing out to maintain its grip and avoid heavy sliding or movements that cause friction, as this may lead to the surface breaking down quicker.

The Everday is a little over four pounds which is a pretty standard weight for a yoga mat. Generally speaking, yoga mats range between one and seven pounds. The weight helps keep the mat lie flat and stay in place.

The non-slip rubber smells terrible at first, but it does not take very long to dissipate. After one session, the smell is much less abrasive, and after a few, it barely smells at all.

Another con to the out-of-this-world grip is that it picks up dirt, hair, and lint like crazy. So you don't want to throw it in your trunk or leave it on the ground. In fact, for cleanliness and durability purposes, we highly recommend buying a yoga mat bag.

Should You Buy The GuruGrid?

If your main concern is grip, then there's no better yoga mat for you than the B Mat Everyday. The intense grip has some pretty glaring cons. Moving through each pose quickly and dragging your feet can irritate the skin and shorten your yoga mat's lifespan. It is a great mat for the price, but if you're an avid, everyday, fast-paced yogi, you may want to spend the extra money for something more durable.

What Other Yoga Mats Should You Consider?

If you've decided you want grip AND durability, the Yoloha Unity Cork is a crowd-pleaser. It is more expensive than the B Mat Everyday, but it will last you much longer. Unfortunately, it requires a significant break-in period, so if you're looking for something grippy with no break-in period, the Lululemon The Reversible Mat is great right out of the box, dry or wet. If you're in the market for something budget-friendly Aurorae Synergy is a great all-around mat at a surprisingly low price.
