Our Analysis and Test Results
The Bunny Hop Tank offers a slim fit and breathable mesh that we find addicting. Run after run, we found that we were reaching for this mid-weight tank made of proprietary rabbitMESH.
Performance Comparison
Comfort
The polyester and spandex of the Bunny Hop make it less soft to the touch when compared to its competition. However, the less-silky body is well-designed as a basic and comfortable running tank. It's constructed with plain non-bothersome seams and with less stretch than other options, but we never had any trouble with chafing while we were running. That said, if you are someone who chafes under your arms, you might not like the sleeveless construction.
Though user reviews on the Rabbit website are split between the Bunny Hop running smaller or larger than normal, we confidently believe it to run slightly smaller than average sizing. Part of this is simply the shirt's design –- it has a more tapered and contoured fit, and it is a bit shorter. If you want a looser fit, we recommend sizing up.
Breathability
Upon first touch, the Bunny Hop does not seem like it will be the most breathable based on the textile feel. However, the blend of rabbitMESH makes for a surprisingly breezy running top. The entire garment is constructed of the same fabric, which contains semi-sheer mesh rabbits uniformly scattered throughout.
The mesh rabbits give great breathability to this tank. It does not rely on a loose fit to promote airflow; instead, the air moves through the mesh to keep your skin cool. This tank quickly became one of our favorites for warm-weather runs because of its breathability and sleeveless structure.
Drying Speed
This is the only metric where the Bunny Hop didn't shine, though it still didn't perform poorly. We clocked its drying time in with the middle of the pack. The shirt does not retain water, though, so this should not affect your ability to stay chafe-free in it.
Features & Versatility
Because of its slim-fit design, we found that then Bunny Hop offered pretty solid versatility. It wears well beneath other layers on cooler days but is perfectly breathable for runs on days when the sun shines hot. The mesh spots on the shirt really help with airflow, allowing your skin to breathe, whether it is your only layer or one of many.
The Bunny Hop is pretty light on features, though it is priced squarely in the middle of the pack. This shirt has a small, reflective rabbit on the back of the neck, which provides a bit of visibility, but not enough to keep you safe when running before dawn. This particular shirt lacks some of our favorite features like taped seams, UPF, and odor control, but we grew to love what it offers anyway.
Value
As mentioned, the Bunny Hop is not chock full of features, but it is a great tank top for the price. We like its versatility and the fact that we feel free while we run in it. The comfortable seams and tapered fit make it a flattering and functional purchase. The tougher textile also makes it far more durable than many more silky and breathable options.
Conclusion
The Rabbit Bunny Hop Tank didn't blow us away, but we loved running in it nonetheless. From its sleek fit to its breezy mesh, this is definitely a tank top that we love for warm beach runs. It is nice to have shoulder-exposing options for days when you want to feel some extra warmth on your skin. If you are looking for a fairly priced tank top that will get you through your runs, we highly recommend this hearty tank.
