Roland graduated with a degree in Outdoor Recreation Leadership in 2010 and has committed his life to pursuing, sharing, and providing opportunities for immersion and connection with the natural world. His passion for the outdoors has led him on a search to explore perfect granite splitters, frothing whitewater, whiskey-fueled campfires, and remote wild places the world through. He has been guiding rivers, backpacking, and climbing expeditions for 12 years all over the U.S. and Central America, and has taught land stewardship and environmental ethics as a Master Educator for the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics. For 10 years now, he has lived out of vehicles exploring rocks and rivers, educating, and guiding. He currently splits his time co-directing wilderness courses for a Colorado high school experiential education program, providing freelance photography and writing, and having the most fun.
