Ben has many years of professional guiding backpacking, cycling, and canoeing trips throughout northern New England and maritime Canada. He has led many groups through Maine’s 260 miles of the Appalachian Trail, including the Saddleback and Bigelow mountain ranges, as well as the 100-mile wilderness. He has paddled the Magalloway and Androscoggin rivers and Lake Umbagog, and has led cycling tours, logging thousands of miles through Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and Nova Scotia on self-supported adventures, lasting up to a month at a time.

He has thru-hiked of the Long Trail, Pacific Crest Trail and Colorado Trail, as well as innumerable weekend trips in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Ben writes, "I am endlessly grateful for my experiences in the natural world. I consider them individually and collectively to be some of the most formative and transformative experiences of my life. I have been fortunate enough to hold jobs that both reinforce my personal passion for the outdoors and have required me, in a very practical sense, to research and test equipment for large scale field use."
