ColorfulKoala High Waisted Brushed Review

We love the buttery soft, next-to-nothing feel of the ColorfulKoala High Waisted Brushed material, a 75% polyester, 25% spandex blend. The design features flatlock construction and a unique v-shaped seam on the back hips. These leggings are available in a 25" or 28" inch inseam from sizes XS to XL. As the name would allude to, ColorfulKoala offers an exceptionally diverse range of color options as well.

Performance Comparison

Comfort and Fit

On the first touch, we fell in love with the soft, brushed cotton texture of the ColorfulKoala. We found these leggings to give supportive shaping in the waist and hips and never feel too tight. These pants rival the naked feel of designer brands at a third of the price. Color us impressed.

If you prefer a pant with an outstanding balance between gentle compression and unrestricted movement, these leggings are one of our favorites. Consider another option if you like a pant with more tuck. We especially appreciate the seamless wide waistband that never squeezes but softly holds without needing constant adjustment. Other pants use elastic bands to stay up, often creating a rubber band effect that over-squeezes the waist. The High Waisted Brushed felt and looked good on our hips. Out of the models we tested, these had one of the most flattering fits on the hip. We loved how the v-contour seam above the hips created elegant lines for the rear body.

Ease of Movement

One of the hardest things to find in yoga pants is the ability to flow like a second skin with your body into any pose. The ColorfulKoala Brushed scored above average in ease of movement, and with such a good fit, we found joy flowing in these pants.

We tested each legging in a series of challenging poses that explored extreme ranges of motion, including deep backends and binds. We did deep hip openers like eka pada sirsana (leg-behind-the-head) and rajakapotasana (king pigeon); we tested extreme hip flexion and extension through the splits. The ColorfulKoala was comfortable in every pose. Even if we felt the discomfort of exploring our edge, we were grateful for the freedom these pants gave us to breathe, soften, and expand into our full range of motion.

We also appreciate how the pants molded to our silhouette and that there was never sagging or bagging around the hips. They are technical rockstars in dynamic flows like sun salutations or arm balance sequences. The buttery fabric helps you glide into tightly bound postures like padmasana (lotus), but it also has enough friction to stick arm balances.

Breathability

We loved the ColorfulKoala on the mat because it vents and wicks moisture quickly when we practiced in a heated room. They are one of the lightest weight pants that we tested, which helped them breathe and feel weightless. Since we didn't feel overheated, we felt more energy throughout our practice.

We tested these leggings in a light blue, and although they wicked sweat quickly, sweat stains were visible. Lighter colors are lovely for cooling yoga practices like yin or yoga nidra (non-sleep deep rest). A good tip is to choose a darker color if you mind sweat stains during a warmer flow. These pants come in a rainbow of color choices, so you should have no problem choosing a flavor that suits your practice needs.

We tested these leggings on a sunny, tropical ridge hike with over 1,000 feet of elevation. We were grateful that the lightweight fabric was breathable and did not hold heat on our legs. They are comfy for short hikes and morning runs. Although they vented well, not all material protects your skin from too much sun, so consider a different pair with sun protection if hiking in high elevation or high UV.

Construction Quality

Considering that the ColorfulKoala High Waisted is a budget option, their durability exceeded expectations. After months of testing, the pants held their shape, and we observed only mild pilling on the fabric. However, the material is delicate, and there are better options if you want something that can transition to rough outdoor play.

We put each legging through a squat test to see if our red panties would be a “red flag” for unwanted see-through fabric. Even though the Colorfulkoala Brushed fabric is one of the lightest weights tested, the material is tightly woven and is not see-through, passing the squat test with flying colors. We love finding breathable and lightweight pants that are not revealing, but bulky panty lines can be more visible under the thin fabric, especially in lighter-colored materials.

After over a dozen wash and dry cycles, the “Colorfulkoala Brushed” showed surprisingly minor wear, just a light fuzzing on the material. The fabric was in a similar condition and as soft as when we first flowed in them.

Should You Buy the ColorfulKoala High Waisted Brushed?

If you are on a budget and looking for luxuriously soft yoga pants, we recommend the ColorfulKoala as a great pant to explore your full range of motion. They are an excellent option for any style of yoga, move with your body in challenging poses, and are so comfortable that you can wear them all day. That said, the lightweight feel that gives them great breathability can also make them run cool so that we wouldn't pack them for our next ski trip. If you like more compression and tummy soothing, these may not have the compression you want. However, at a third of the price of designer pairs, these yoga pants are one of our favorites to root and rise each morning.
