Bennett has always enjoyed being outside, but after his 6-month thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail in 2015, the outdoors became a place where he felt the freest to be himself. Upon completing the trail, he worked at a local outdoor shop where he used OutdoorGearLab to help others find the right gear to get out and experience nature as he had. His time on the AT, where he earned the trail name Jolly, led to another long hike along the 2650 mile Pacific Crest Trail. His passion for helping others find the perfect gear solidified on that trip, drawing him to Utah State University, where he learned about outdoor product design. His drive is to make products that allow the user to feel comfortable and confident in the outdoors. With his first product launching in 2021, he hopes to do just that. Up next for Bennett is a thru-hike of the ≈3000 mile Continental Divide Trail starting in July of 2021, where he plans on putting his first product to the test before launching later that year.
