Garmin is the leader in cycling computer market and the Edge 1030 is their new top of the line model. The Edge 1030 replaces the Edge 1000 as their flagship model with several essential upgrades. In this case, top of line features and performance come at a premium price, and the Edge 1030 is the most expensive model in our test at $600. That said, this is the most fully featured cycling computer on the market and there is virtually nothing it doesn't do. The Edge 1030 has a large color touchscreen in addition to three tactile buttons for control. The large display is easy to read, and the pages are customizable to your preferences, as is virtually everything else on this advanced cycling computer.
For connectivity, it is WiFi enabled, pairs with Ant+ and Bluetooth sensors, and connects to your smartphone through the Garmin Connect App. Navigation is one of its strong suits with detailed color maps, and the ability to create or upload and follow predetermined routes. Battery life is excellent with up to 20 hours of life in the rechargeable Lithium Ion Battery. Garmin also gives you mounting options with their new out-front mount and two stem mounts of varying heights. If you're looking for the most advanced and fully featured cycling computer on the market, it comes at a price, and it's the Edge 1030.
