People like to joke that Ross was born in the Snowbird tram, but the truth is he was born in Salt Lake City. As an infant, his mother would ski with him on her back, and as soon as he could stand up she put skis on him. With a father that specializes in ski resort expansion and a mother that can out-ski, out-hike, and out-mountain bike most men on the planet his youth was spent bouncing around the Wasatch, the Rockies, and the Sierras. He had rafted half a dozen rivers, made ten mountain bike trips to Moab, and been to 75 ski resorts by the time most people graduate high school. Since adulthood Ross has laid claim to many adventures around the planet such as canoe camping Lake Temagami, ascending Kilimanjaro, kayaking in Thailand, and cliff diving in Puerto Rico. He has an undying passion for all things adventure, especially snowboarding. Although he likes to ride the park, his heart lies in the backcountry. For the last 15 years he's spent his winters searching for the ultimate backcountry jump, and being sure to document the chase. The last two films Ross directed and starred in have helped to raise thousands of dollars for the Sierra Avalanche Center.
