Marissa was a big firm attorney who quit her job in corporate law to pursue a better life. In 2012, she sold everything she owned and moved to Borneo to work as a scuba instructor on a sailboat traveling around the island. Since then, she's driven a motorcycle across three countries solo, managed a busy dive center in Indonesia and worked as a shark researcher in the Philippines. She founded a charity dedicated to ocean conservation from her home in South Lake Tahoe and is policy director for The League to Save Lake Tahoe. She's a former competitive snowboarder (primarily freestyle/halfpipe), PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, RYT yoga instructor, and AIDA freediver.
