Beam Comparison - Bike Light

Beam Diameter Comparison - Click on the images to compare at full size. These beam diameter images show the relative size of beam (how wide is the light beam) as well as the evenness of light provided. The best light beams are wider, allowing you to see the full road ahead and around turns, and also provide an evenly lit flood of light. Keep in mind that beam photos like these may overstate the negatives of dimmer bike lights, since unlike the camera (which is kept at the same settings for all photos), your eyes will adjust to dimmer light and thus see better than is implied by the photos.

Pros Inexpensive.Wide even beam pattern, bright, illuminated on/off button, swivel mount.
Cons Narrow beam pattern, not bright enough, AAA batteries expensive over long-term, no battery life indicator.Very short (1.5 hour) battery life, NiteRider Lumina 550 is a better value.
