Our Analysis and Test Results
The Yogalicious High-Waist Ultrasoft is made with a soft but thin 86% Polyester / 14% Spandex blend. There are many color choices available, and it comes in XS to XL sizes.
The material on the Ultrasoft is very thin and by nature somewhat breathable, but they do retain moisture and take longer to dry than other thin pairs. We wore them to class, got a little sweaty, and then wore them home, and noticed that we were still feeling the moisture in the pant almost an hour later. Also, the color that we tested did darken up considerably, which you'll want to keep in mind when selecting which color you want to purchase.
Ease of Movement
We did have excellent ease of movement in this pair. The material is stretchy and didn't impede us at all.
Comfort and Fit
The material on these leggings is super soft, and we wanted to give it a high mark for this category. However, the thick elastic at the waist was a big drawback for us, and it impacted our comfort a bit, particularly in forward bends.
Online user reviews of this pant are full of reports of them arriving in the mail with a hole already in them or getting one with little wear. We can see why — the material is very thin. While we didn't notice any holes during our testing period, we would wear this pair with caution and not use it for hiking or other activities where it might get snagged easily.
We weren't too thrilled with the style of this pair. Perhaps it was because we could see all of our flaws through the soft and thin material! It didn't do anything to help shape or define our rear.
The High-Waist Ultrasoft is a good option for those people who don't like or need a lot of compression from their yoga pants. If you prefer to feel unencumbered in class, this might be the perfect ones for you. If you like a little more support, the Lululemon Align II, our Editors' Choice winner, has the perfect balance of support along with a stretchy and comfortable material.
These pants retail in the $23 to $30 range (prices vary on the Amazon purchase page). While we like the lower price point, they didn't perform quite as well as some of the more expensive pairs, or even as well as the $30 90 Degree by Reflex Powerflex.
The Yogalicious High-Waist Ultrasoft is indeed an ultra-soft pair of yoga leggings. If you like to live in yoga pants, these may work for you because of how soft and comfortable the material is. However, they do have some flaws that made them not score very high in our tests, like the thick elastic at the waist and the lack of compression and support.
