Our Analysis and Test Results
The Elevation offers decent compression support and optimal comfort. It is stylish and soft and fits a variety of body types. Read on to see how this versatile bra, made mostly from recycled materials, measures up.
Comfort and Fit
This metric includes general comfort and an assessment of whether or not the bra pinches or chafes. We also take notes of each bra's material, whether or not it is true to size, and how inclusive the fit is. The Vuori Elevation offers the highest level of comfort we have had the pleasure of experiencing.
The 86% polyester and 14% elastane blend of the Elevation is made mostly from recycled materials. We are not exaggerating when we say that this bra is softer than any sports bra material we have ever laid our hands on. The texture is almost suede-like, but much softer. Not only is the Elevation velvety smooth, but it is breathable too. While it is somewhat moisture-wicking, sweat marks are visible when heavy sweat is present, but it dries quickly.
This bra's extreme stretch and softness ensure no pinching or chafing, although it is worth noting that if you size down for extra compression, you may find the armpits to be a little tight. The Elevation is offered in XXS to XXL. It is mostly true to size, but if you are in between sizes or looking for extra compression, it is best to size down as the extra stretchy material has a lot of give to it.
Support can come in many forms, but most sports bras offer compression, encapsulation, or a combination. Stretch and coverage are two more characteristics that help contribute to a high support sports bra.
The Elevation is an interesting case offering low to medium support from the performance stretch knit. The compression-style support is directly affected by what size you choose. Because the material is so soft and stretchy, it may have too much give to offer ample support, so sizing down helps mitigate that. If you have large back muscles (lats and traps), you may find that the armpits are too tight if you decide to size down, so keep this in mind.
The combination of the high neck, higher coverage, multiple crisscross back straps, and a wide rib band help to increase support. Two of the four crisscross back straps are a little wider, which also helps distribute weight nicely across the back without anything digging into the shoulders. It is best to size down for extra compression and support if you do not have particularly large traps, lats, or a very wide rib cage.
Personal style is just that, personal. That is why we take a vote to ensure we are gathering a wide array of unbiased opinions on each bra. During our style testing, we also considered versatility and color options. Bras that are offered in an abundance of colors and patterns or double as a crop top earn extra points in this metric. The Elevation performs very highly in this realm.
The general consensus for the Vuori Elevation was a good one. This sports bra looks great on most bodies with its double crisscross back straps and thick rib band. The high neck is not too tight and nicely frames the neck and shoulders, while the full coverage adds a little versatility. While the color options are minimal, most everyone enjoyed the heathered look, and the colors are neutral enough to wear with most colors. The extra stretchy material ensures that there is no awkward spilling or pinching, making it a good fit for most.
Ease of Care
Caring for your clothing is a sure-fire way to make it last, but we understand that not everyone has the time or space to hand wash and hand dry every single sports bra they own. When assessing this metric, we looked at how labor-intensive caring for the garment is as well as general durability. The Elevation is very low maintenance and, as a result, performs highly in this category.
Not only is the Elevation washer and dryer friendly, but it gets softer with time. This sports bra requires cold water and a low tumble dry, which is easy peasy compared to some of the other options in our test suite. It is not rare for a sports bra to require a bra bag and/or air drying, but the Elevation can happily accompany your socks and cotton t-shirts through each wash and dry cycle. Even after months of heavy use, it showed no signs of wear and tear, again making the Elevation a great option for most people.
This sports bra is a fantastic value. The price is pretty standard, but performance in the comfort department was incredibly impressive. The plush, stretchy fabric is made from mostly recycled material, making the Elevation valuable to more than just your wallet. If you're in the market for a comfortable yet fashionable bra, the Elevation is great pick.
The Vuori Elevation takes the comfort cake thanks to its velvety smooth fabric made from recycled materials. The silky soft material doesn't chafe or pinch, and the wide rib band, multiple crisscrossed straps, and exceptional stretch work together to offer decent medium support. Just keep in mind: because the stretch is so ample, it is important to size down if you want extra compression. This sports bra doesn't sacrifice style or comfort and is an excellent option for yoga, pilates, climbing, or other low-impact exercises. Or just hanging out at home getting cozy.
