Slackline Industries Aggro Line Review

Slackline Industries is a relatively new company making some of the best slacklines available in the sport today. If you want a short but super dynamic trick line, they have you covered. If you want a long basic line for learning and surfing, they have one for you. Just learning, or need some accessories? they are a one-stop-shop. The Aggro Line is one of their most advanced slacklines that aims to please those who want a long AND dynamic option.

Performance Comparison

Ease of Set-up

One nice thing about the Aggro Line is that, even with the trampoline webbing, Alpha ratchet, and long length, it can still be set up in just about the same amount of time as a beginner rig, whereas the Boss Line by SI has quite a few added features that are great, but definitely complicate the set-up process.

We did find the 40" tree protectors to be too short to reach around many anchor trees and we would recommend purchasing the "Tree Pro XL" set which is available on their website. Some areas of the country require tree protection and its the responsible thing to do as these slacklines put a lot of stress on the tree bark.

Versatility

This slackline is highly versatile. The long length makes it fun to progress from walking short lines to walking up to about 100'. The trampoline style webbing is a challenge for beginners to learn on, but if you purchase the helpline separately, this line will work as a starter line, but also grow with the novice slacker to the point of doing serious aerial tricks and mega rodeo surfing.

This line is also about half as complex to set up and break down as its big brother, the Boss Line, and that keeps the process simple, allowing those who may not be quite as serious about slacklining to stay focused on the fun aspect of the sport. The 100' length will assure you can almost always find a perfect set of trees or anchors to string it up. And while this kit isn't exactly a featherweight, it's quite a bit lighter than the Boss Line, making it easier to hike into more remote locations for a good time. However, a primitive kit reigns supreme when it comes to weight and packability.

Quality

Regardless of which Slackline Industries kit is best for your needs, from our experience, the quality is going to be great. They don't just rely on other companies to do the innovation and then copy it, they are the innovators. The ratchets are all top-notch and the extra-powerful Alpha ratchet in this kit is straight-up ah-mazing. The width of the ratchet drum is just barely wider than the webbing itself, which helps to keep it lined up while being tensioned. This means less abrasion and a longer lifespan of the line.

The backup line included in this kit is decent and will serve its purpose (keeping the ratchet from becoming a projectile in a catastrophic failure), but far cry from what we would call "high quality". With that said, we don't knock too many points off for this since its just a backup feature that is easy to assemble and serves its purpose just fine.

Disassembly

As with set-up, disassembly of this slackline is quick and easy. The Alpha ratchet releases in the same manner as the standard two-inch ratchets in our roundup so does have a decent POP, but no more than any others unless its set up at its maximum tension, but even then it's only marginally more abrupt. Just be sure to watch your hair and fingers and don't hold the webbing while you release it.

Before you release the slackline, however, you must first take down the backup line. To take that down you first take out an overhand knot and unthread the double D-ring tensioner. Easy peasy. This shouldn't take more than a minute so doesn't make this process much more involved. Packing it up and stashing back in its storage bag is going to be the most time-consuming part of the whole process!

Features

The Aggro Line has what we would call the best assortment of features for those who aren't trying to get too fancy. Sure the Boss Line, the big sibling to the Aggro, has quite a few extra add on features, but the setup and break down of that is way more complicated and time-consuming.

We love that this has 100' of webbing to keep things interesting and the thin webbing has a dynamic feel which is a blast for doing dynamic tricks and for surfing.

The Alpha ratchet is mega-strong for tensioning this long length of stretchy webbing. If you were to try and use a standard two-inch slackline ratchet, there would be no way to get the webbing tight enough to walk without it bottoming out in the middle of the line.

The included backup line is a welcome feature for added peace of mind. The idea of a heavy chunk of steel whizzing toward us is a bit unnerving, and the backup line, though not super-well-designed, makes us feel better about jumping on a super tight line.

As with many of the slacklines kits we reviewed in our testing, it does come with a carrying bag but has a higher quality than many and has a zippered closure.

Value

The Aggro Line is a quality piece of equipment, has a good price, is easy set-up and break down, and has a great but simplified set of features. For these reasons, we think it holds great value. If you are new to slacklining and don't know if this is the sport for you, maybe try a beginner line, but if you want something you are not likely to outgrow, this slackline should definitely be one you take a very close look at.

Conclusion

If you are looking for one of the best slacklines money can buy, you will definitely want to take a good look at this kit. This has all the basic features you would need but none of the extra features that complicate set up and break down. However, even this kit can be further upgraded if you find that you want a better backup line or independent tree anchors. This line leaves very little to be desired. If you enjoy walking long bouncy lines, or if you like to surf or throw down with massive jump tricks, this line will suit you perfectly!
