The Marmot Exum Jacket stands out for being very light yet able to handle just about anything. I used this jacket
Trip Down the Grand Canyon with Beth Rodden and Tommy Caldwell and skiing and some El Cap climbs. It's an awesome jacket no question. Fits over any helmet, very breathable and very light. Real question comes down to price: at $400 it's not cheap. If I was on a budget, which I usually am, I would probably get the
Marmot Precip. Sure it's not nearly as burly or breathable, but it's a 1/4 the cost and very lightweight. But that's me. If you are someone who wants a burly hardcore technical jacket for climbing, then the Exum is definitely near the top of the pack and most competitors jackets are about the same price. If you are mainly a skier, I would get something a little less expensive with a powder skirt.
