Patagonia Capilene 3 Zip-Neck - Women's Review

The Capilene 3 Midweight Zip-Neck is the 1/2 zip version of the Patagonia Capilene 3 Crew - Women's which won our Best Buy award. It costs $59 ($10 more than the Crew) which takes it out of the Best Buy category. Capilene 3 is on the fence between being heavy long underwear or a really light fleece jacket. We feel the zip pushes it more toward the jacket category as it now comes up around your neck. The zipper makes it a little harder to layer. So we feel it is a little less versatile. However, the zip does add ventilation, especially because it zips almost halfway down the front whereas the North Face TKA 100 Glacier - Women's is only a 1/4 zip. The North face is $10 less expensive. Both the North Face and Patagonia use 5.4oz material so they are very comparable. We prefer the Patagonia because of the look and longer zip.
