The North Face Osito jacket is right up there with the others in terms of quality and coziness when comparing the plush, furry, and soft fleeces. If you want to go for style, I would pick the Marmot Flair, if you want the warmest and most technical, go for the Mountain Hardwear Monkey Woman, and if you are going for inexpensive then the Osito wins. Particularly if you have a North Face Shell jacket, than the Osito would be even more functional because you could zip it inside the shell.

The Osito, one of The North Face's best selling fleece jackets, falls into the same category of fleeces as the Marmot Flair and the Mountain Hardwear Monkey Woman because of its plush, furry feel. This makes it especially soft, comfortable, warm and inviting. This jacket has the same zip in feature as other North Face fleece jackets, such as the Denali or the Khumbu, which makes it a useful mid-layer that fits into a North Face outer jacket. This jacket is even slicker than the other North Face fleeces I reviewed because the snap in features on the sleeve cuffs hide in a little hole so that they can't even be seen unless you actually need the snaps, in which case they easily pull out. This jacket also has a few other clever features that I like such as the storm sealing hem to keep in warmth and a mini pocket inside the right hand pocket, to keep small things that could fall out of a bigger pocket, like keys or coins. Dislikes I'm not crazy about the fit of this jacket. I feel that the sleeves are a bit too short, leaving my wrists constantly exposed, and the shoulders are a little too broad which gives the whole jacket a boxy look and feel. It is also a bit bulky to wear under other jackets or stuff in a pack, but as a stand alone jacket is pretty warm. The Osito is not a very breathable jacket, so I wouldn't wear it during aerobic activities, but it's a good insulating layer for afterward. Best Application This is a great all around warm and cozy fleece. Its the kind of jacket that can be worn around during every day activities or can be used in outdoor applications such as camping and hiking. Value The Osito is significantly cheaper than similar fuzzy fleeces like the Monkey Woman or the Marmot Flair, so if you want a plush and fuzzy jacket, but you are on a budget, this is the way to go. Like both of the other plush fleeces, eventually the fur starts to rub off on things, but I think this is inevitable with this silken fleece material.
