Overview
I found this fleece jacket to be a great technical, lightweight layer that packs down well and is moderately priced. It is not a thick and cozy fleece, but is perfect for high intensity activities.

OutdoorGearLab Editors' Hands-on Review

Likes
The ArcTeryx Caliber is the lightest fleece I reviewed. It is thin and excellent for stuffing in a pack and carrying as an extra layer. I also used this fleece when running. It is breathable, moisture-wicking and tight-fitting, so it works well in activities that involve lots of movement and sweating. The pockets are mesh-lined, so you can leave them unzipped for even more airflow. It also has the snug Scuba hood which stays on your head well, even when bouncing around on a jog, and keeps warmth in.

Dislikes
This would not be the warmest or coziest fleece option. The thinness and lightness of this fleece add to its functionality, but does not make this the go-to fleece when you want to snuggle up in something warm.

Best Application
This fleece is made for high heart rate activities such as running, or as an extra layer to throw in your climbing pack. Since it is thin and form fitting, it fits well under a climbing harness and was comfortable to wear under other layers.

Personal Stories
I got caught leading a pitch in the rain at Indian Creek while wearing this hoody. I pulled the hood up, finished climbing, and cleaned the pitch in the rain. I threw a rain jacket over top, and hiked out. I felt that this fleece kept me warm that whole time, working well as an outer layer and an under layer. It also wicked away a lot of the water and dried quickly afterwards, which was a plus.

Value
The Caliber Hoody is middle of the road in terms of price, and if you are looking for a technical fleece, I would say this is well worth the cost. The material didn't snag easily, help up well while climbing and the laminated pocket zippers (which are an updated feature on their newest design) are really sturdy.
