Overview
This is one of the lightest climbing helmets available. According the the manufacturer stats, it is a few grams lighter than the Petzl Meteor III+. However, on our scale, the Meteor III came in lighter than Petzl claimed. Our scale says the Meteor III is the exact weight of the Skull Cap: 7.9 oz. So we are not sure which is the lightest but the difference is negligible. They are the lightest two helmets certified by the UIAA for climbing at this time. We are awaiting a model to test out so we can't comment on the helmets performance yet. It is priced $30 above the budget $60 helmet like the Black Diamond Half Dome, CAMP Armour or Mammut Skywalker 2. However, in the lightweight helmet category, it is $10 less than the Petzl Meteor III. It is the same cost as the Black Diamond Tracer but lighter. For being so light, it is notable that is also comes with a tightening wheel for one-handed adjustment. We hope to have a full review soon. In the meantime, please post your reviews below.
