The Mammut Alpine Rider is one of the first helmets certified for both skiing and climbing. Its removable/exchangeable fleece lining allows you to shed extra weight or add extra warmth as conditions dictate. It is relatively lightweight and retails for $100. It is particularly conducive to backcountry skiing where lightweight is essential.

For other lightweight options for climbing, check out our Climbing Helmet Review, and for other ski helmets, refer to our upcoming ski helmet review.
