Overview
Black Diamond White Gold was our top performing climbing chalk in all categories except value. We found the texture of the chalk to be superior to that of its chief competitor, Metolius Super Chalk, and the friction White Gold provided was unmatched by any of our other tested products. We also found that each chalking lasted significantly longer than Metolius’ Super Chalk, or Metolius Eco Ball. If you’re looking for a chalk that will keep your hands drier, longer, look no further. We must mention that, as with most chalk, White gold is, well, white, and will leave white marks on the rock as you climb up. If you are climbing in an area where large white blemishes on the rock will detract from the natural beauty, a great non-marking option is the Metolius Eco Ball. If you are just looking to save coin, we recommend the Frank Endo Chalk which didn't perform quite as well but is half the cost. Black Diamond White Gold is a specially formulated chalk designed specifically for rock climbing use. When put to the test, we found that it was the longest lasting chalk we tested, allowing us to chalk up less frequently. We also really liked White Gold’s texture and overall feel. We found that it offered excellent drying capabilities without coating our hands in too thick a layer of super fine powder. White Gold provided excellent friction and we didn’t experience any of the slight “slipperiness” that we felt with some of the other chalks. Dislikes Really the only negative that we can put forth regarding Black Diamond’s White Gold is that, per gram, it is the most expensive loose chalk we tested. As with most consumer goods, White Gold gets cheaper per gram if you buy more of it, but considering the largest size available is a 300gram bag of loose chalk, the savings of buying in bulk are limited. Best Applications Fill your chalk sock or throw it in your chalk bag loose, White Gold is an excellent climbing specific chalk that will serve you well in any and all rock climbing applications. There are a lot of different shapes and sizes this chalk comes in, use the Pricefinder for Black Diamond Chalk to see all the options (a lot of retailers just call is Black Diamond Chalk and not Black Diamond White Gold). — Chris McNamara Compare this product side-by-side to top competitors >
